I would like to welcome you to YOUR Newly created 480-481 Area Local webpage. I guess that this will be the place where I will be able to update you on the up to the minute happings in the Clerk Craft. Also you will be able to contact me as well as the other officers of the local if you have questions. Please do not use this website to inform us that you would like to file a grievance. For that you should contact your steward, if you do not have a steward in your office then continue to call the local as you have in the past. I have been a postal employee and a member of this union since November 1993. I became a steward in 2001. Prior to becoming a steward I was like many other members. Just came to work did what management told me to do and went home. I did not care what was happening because it was not happening to me. Well I soon learned that what happens to one happens to all. After I realized that, there was no thinking about it and I immedately contact my Chief Steward and said sign me up. From 2001 thru 2006 I spent my time as a steward at the Royal Oak P&DC, and specifically at the TAF building. In November of 2006 I was appointed as a Field Steward, with this appointment came much more responsibility. I was now traveling throughout the Detroit, and South East Michigan District representing the membership. I have received Basic Steward Training, Advance Steward Training, OWCP, FMLA, and Retirement as well as many refresher courses. I look forward to Arbritation Training this year in June.
